ESTIMATING HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS
Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) is the national NHS data warehouse for hospital care, which is update yearly with more than 12 million episodes. In the following sections Mosaic uk types have been coded to HES data on emergency, alcohol and drug, mental health and teenage pregnancy.
Total hospital admissions are typically associated with deprived areas with many families with young children, young people or elderly. With the local composition of Mosaic Types we would in Southwark expect to see many hospitalisations from residents in the especially Dignified Dependency and Low Income Elderly Types.
The following table shows the hospital admission risk estimate by Mosaic UK types in Southwark. The values are calculated using the index described in the profiling section.
