ALCOHOL AND DRUGS

Alcohol and drug admissions are typically associated with deprived areas with many families, young people or elderly. With the local composition of Mosaic Types we would expect to see many hospitalisations from residents in especially Dignified Dependency. Metro Multiculture (43% of Southwark households) and Counter Cultural Mix (16%) also have a high risk.

The following table shows the alcohol and drugs admission risk estimate by Mosaic UK types in Southwark. The values are calculated using the index described in the profiling section. For each postcode type is also reported the rank of the Index of Multiple Deprivation (1= most deprived; 0=least deprived). Shading indicates association with the 20% most deprived areas in UK.
